BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM)

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the process of generating and managing
building data during its life cycle. Typically it uses three-dimensional, real-time, dynamic
building modeling software to increase productivity in building design and construction. The typical BIM process produces the Building Information Model (abbreviated BIM), which encompasses building geometry, spatial relationships, geographic information, and quantities and properties of building components. Indeed recent developments in BIM applications also include cost, programme management and in some counties code
compliance.

In its simplest form BIM is the evolution of 2 & 3D CAD. Using BIM in the correct context
can dramatically improve the communication, coordination, and planning of construction
projects, while reducing risks, errors, and costs. It is for this reason that many companies are investing in BIM to increase their productivity and to give clients and enhanced product and service.
